Your Story Needed

I get it.

Every single day, you are inundated with an overwhelming amount of noise that all of us get – whatever your generation – from social media, TV commercials, news article headlines, radio commercials. The list goes on and on.

With the latest talk about which celebrity had a falling out with which-other celebrity; which sports figure is being traded to which-other team; political news masquerading as “ the biggest story ever ” ( until the next story that's also called “ the biggest story ever ” ) – it never ends.

You even hear it in those feel-good stories from time to time: about heroes who “made a difference”; or that next big “ cause ” that needs your money or your attention in order to make life better for someone or something hurting.

It all can make you feel like the everyday actions you’re taking in your own life – just to get by and simply * live * every day – are less important.

And the baked-in * hIGH LEvEL of PRIorITY anD IMpoRTANce * attributed to all of these other things may cause you to think all of * that stuff * matters more than your life.

But it actually is quite the opposite:

The everyday, run-of-the-mill average person is the one who makes-it-happen every day. These stories are the ones that matter.

People of the older generation tend to think,

“ No one really wants to hear about my life. Young people don’t really care. ”

or

“ I haven’t really done anything all that noteworthy. "
" I haven’t really done anything all that interesting. "
" I haven’t really done anything all that entertaining. "

But I beg to differ.

The younger generations – whether they know it or not – are suffering from “burn out” from all of the distractions brought on by all of the screen-time ( mobile devices, social media, TVs, video games, etc ) . They’re in kind of a weird place where they like to hear the down-to-earth, * normal * stuff. Even if they don’t always start off thinking they need it. They do. It will surprise you how much they will end up listening when you get into it. And it is because they are craving something real.

We all are.

The quote unquote “ older ” generations also need to hear about what the other people their age are going through and have gone through, too. As the years go by, folks tend to wonder, “ Has the work I’ve done matter? ”, “ Have I raised my kids right? ”, “ What does it all mean? ”

Just think about it. Get it out and written down. It can help your mental health more than you know.
